The Mind Flayer (Japanese: マインドフレイア, Mind Flayer) is a powerful Water attribute creature and Summons type card introduced in Lost Kingdoms.

A Mind Flayer is fought as the boss of Shayel Passage.

  • By transforming a Kraken card with 1000 EXP
  • By transforming a Banshee card with 3000 EXP
  • By transforming a Wizard card with 2800 EXP
  • By transforming a Hand of Fire card with 2100 EXP
  • By choosing the card in the Level Bonus for Shayel Passage. Only one Mind Flayer card is available
  • By opening a chest in the Castle Grayl. Found in the hidden passage behind a movable statue close to the level's entrance.
  • By opening a chest on the Bridge of Sarvan. Found on the upper left part of the bridge puzzle.
  • By finding a hidden card in Lumsted. Found under one of several small breakable boxes against the level border before an area with the well nearby a gate.
  • By receiving it as a reward for Lumsted. Obtained by winning 12-13 battles before cleansing the fourth well.
  • By opening a chest in the Castle of Wyht. Found in a row of two chests on the small platform accessed by using the right elevator on the first floor. This card is in the chest farthest from the elevator.
  • Can be purchased from the Apothecary Shop 9, 10, or 11 for 3600G
  • By opening a chest at Terjon Temple. Found in a row of two chests next to a water wheel in the area before the third switch. This card is in the right chest.
  • By opening a chest in Broch Black. Found in the back of the right room close to the Dragon's Mouth. This card is in the chest to the left.
  • By copying one using 4000 EXP

The Mind Flayer has the unique ability to revive cards. This ability is very useful, however the price of the card can make it deadly to use in bad situations.

  • Mind Flayers originate from Dungeons and Dragons as Cthulhu-esque creatures with powerful psychic abilities and a hunger for human brains.
  • In the US version of Lost Kingdoms, the name for the attack of the Mind Flayer, Mind Stun Blast, is misspelled in its Monster Specs as "Mind Stan Blast".

The Mind Flayer (Japanese: マインドフレイア, Mind Flayer) returns in Lost Kingdoms II. It retains both the Water attribute and the Summons type.

In all versions of Lost Kingdoms II, Mind Flayers can be found as enemies in Level 17 of the Proving Grounds. In the Japanese release known as RUNE II, they are also found in the Lower Chambers of the Runestone Caverns.

  • By upgrading a Flayer Spawn card with 20000 EXP
  • By capturing one in the Lower Chambers, but only in RUNE II.
  • By choosing one in the Level Bonus for the Lower Chambers, but only in RUNE II. Only 1 Mind Flayer card is available. This Level Bonus can only be accessed once.
  • By collecting the card in the fountain at Holzogh Town after using the fountain key to restore the flow of water.
  • By purchasing one at a Card Shop for 3600G. Available at the Shop 3 of the Kadishu Card Shop, the Cathedral Card Shop, and the post game inventories of both shops.
  • By capturing one in Level 17 of the Proving Grounds
  • By choosing the card in the Level Bonus for Level 17 of the Proving Grounds. Only 1 Mind Flayer card is available. This Level Bonus can be accessed whenever the level is cleared with at least one rating star.
  • By importing the card from a Lost Kingdoms save file after clearing Sacred Battle Arena 2. This can only be done once.
  • By copying one using 30000 EXP
